Osbourn Park Loses at Battlefield

Osbourn Park got back to action on the road Monday night, having not played since their December 17th loss to Freedom. They were unable to shake off the rust and lost to Battlefield, 73-45.

You wouldn't have been able to guess after only one quarter. OP kept a one point lead for the first few minutes, and would eventually extend it to nine after one quarter, 19-10. The team's leading scorer heading into the game- Trey Terrell- started a perfect 4-4. The sophomore guard would finish with 13 points on the night, chipping in elsewhere with two steals and an assist.

Battlefield used a very strong second quarter to gain all the momentum. Multiple times they would find senior point guard Chase Nelson on long passes after he snuck behind OP defenders for easy layups at the other end of the court. Junior guard/forward Maddux Tennant used a pair of three-pointers to give the Bobcats a 26-23 lead as Osbourn Park was forced to call a timeout with 2:49 left in the half. Battlefield outscored OP 24-8 in the second quarter to take a 34-27 lead into the half.

The Yellow Jackets were unable to gain any traction in the third quarter, turning the ball over and having missed shots lead to points off fast breaks for the home team. Battlefield would kick off the quarter with a 10-3 run, widening the lead to 14 points. OP took a timeout with 3:04 left in the quarter, having already racked up five team fouls. The team's lack of discipline led to 22 fouls committed on the night. Less than 90 seconds later, head coach Jeremy Coleman was forced to regroup once again after the team's additional three turnovers put Battlefield ahead 48-30. The Bobcats would use a 21-5 scoring advantage to put the game at 55-32 heading into the final quarter.

The Yellow Jackets would find brief success getting the ball to Cam Portis in the middle, allowing for players like Tay Faison and Trey Terrell to get good looks. Faison also had 13 points for OP, and filled up the rest of the stat sheet with four steals, three assists and three rebounds. He'd go 5-11 (2-5 from three) and would be OP's player of the game.

Osbourn Park (5-4) won't have too much time to reflect on the loss as they travel to play the Gainesville Cardinals (4-3) for a 7:30 tipoff Tuesday night.
