Osbourn Park Loses to John Champe at Home

Osbourn Park looked to rebound from their loss versus Battlefield last Tuesday as they hosted John Champe this past Tuesday night. They could not handle Champe's size and ended up losing 71-58.

John Champe would use a few three-pointers to jump out to a 13-2 lead. Osbourn Park head coach Jeremy Coleman would be forced to call a timeout with 3:51 left in the first quarter. Champe would continue to dominate the quarter as it ended with them up 22-4.

The Knights would expand their lead to 21 points at 30-9 before Osbourn Park answered with a 9-0 run to get within 12 points. The Yellow Jackets would go into the half down 36-20. Senior guard Logan Dwyer scored 12 of his 15 points in the first two quarters. He'd finish 6-11 (1-3) from the field.

Osbourn Park would keep it within 12 points at 38-26 before sophomore guard Trey Terrell was called for a very questionable offensive foul. John Champe would take advantage when junior guard Ralph Martino drained an 18-foot jumper, leading 40-26.

Sophomore Tay Faison would look to get things going, dishing two of his four assists to center Josh Okuadido and freshman guard RJ Jones. The assist to Okuadido would be a three-point play after Champe fouled him. Osbourn Park got within ten points at 45-35 forcing John Champe to call a timeout.

The Knights would use one last run to jump up 16 points at 61-45 with 4:35 left in the game. Faison would draw one final foul and sink two free throws to get it to 71-58 before the Knights dribbled out the ball to end the game.

Josh Okuadido led OP scorers with 17 points, and added in 7 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.

Osbourn Park (8-9, 4-6) won't have much time to process the loss as they play John Champe (11-4, 8-2) on the road Wednesday night. It will be the second leg of a back-to-back-to-back-to-back (Champe, Champe, Osbourn, Unity Reed) for the Yellow Jackets.

Game Notes:

- After being outscored 22-4 in the first quarter, Osbourn Park outscored John Champe all of the next 3 (16-14, 15-13, 23-22)

- OP had 10 turnovers in the first half and only 3 in the second half

- The Yellow Jackets would get a good chunk of their points off free throws (19-26, 73%)

-The OP defense forced 24 Champe turnovers

- Osbourn Park would have their lowest rebounding total of the season with only 18 altogether- half coming off the offensive glass.

- In Cam Portis' return to the court, he'd finish 7-8 from the charity stripe, grab 3 boards and tie Tay Faison in steals with 3.

- OP could not mount any momentum from three-point land, shooting 1-13.
